To Everything There is a Season

This rainbow food seasonality chart is pretty enough to frame and hang in the kitchen. It was published in a cookbook by a U.K restaurant chain and has now, officially, been posted all over the Internet.  I hope to borrow from this brilliant idea to make one for Southern California. What I learned today:
1. Vacherin is a gorgeous-looking cheese that is rightfully deserving of large font.
2. Hogget is not pork, but a lamb that has survived the stew pot until its first birthday.

More useful in the U.S. is this search tool that tells state-by-state and month-by-month what produce is in season. From Epicurious. Click here, not the picture.
