The first cool nights of fall and the first rains since spring provoked new leaves from the twisted stump of last year’s artichoke plant. This will be it’s fourth year growing in my front yard amidst the landlord’s half-hearted landscaping. I’m rooting for the little guy. This year, I’ll try to protect him from the impending invasion of ants and pincher bugs that ruined the last crop. I welcome any helpful hints about natural pesticides and fertilizers.
Here it is full grown.
