Food Truck: Cali Bánh Mi

“The Deli Special, that’s the one with the nasty head cheese, isn’t it?” asked the lady in front of me at the Cali Bánh Mi truck. Sadly, the answer was no. This food truck serves a more “polite”, but satisfying, version of the beloved Vietnamese bánh mi sandwich: pâté, pork roll, ham, shaved daikon, cucumber, carrot and jalapeno on a good baguette. I asked for extra pâté and veggies and added Sriracha. Total price, $6.

Cali Bánh Mi parked in front of this section of the Berlin Wall displayed on the lawn of the Variety building, so I got to have lunch with some familiar faces. I was glad I didn’t have to share my tasty sandwich with any of them.
