The gardens need attention today! The tomato plants are getting big and need support. We talk about why we DO NOT prune the tomato suckers off our plants. AND we harvest over 40 pounds of beets from the spring garden. As a fun adventure, we go looking for the pumpkin plants that we started in the woods.

****** About Living Traditions Homestead ******
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 3 new videos every week! Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

You cut the beet top too short they will bleed if you don't leave about 4".
I've been following your channel for, what seems like forever. I keep coming across these lovely videos. Which i i some how missed. I love them. Kevin looks a bit different. Sarah is just as beautiful as the day you two got married. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing. Love and God Bless. XOXO
Will all the weeds present around the seeds you randomly planted near the pond choke out your plants, or are you going to weed around them?
Do you use rabbit manure on all veggies?
Hello Guys I've noticed that You Fokes don't seem to say anything about having a root celler or you dont say anything about mulching your garden waist or any grass or anything else what would be reusable??? And I'm just wondering why???
Beets are yummy, boiled, roasted pickled an beet jelly..yum
Dont be a sucker
Beet greens are super good for you
I leave my dogs shed hair outside near our stone wall and watch the birds grab it up for their nests!!! Fun to watch. That was a cool find Sarah
Sarah, perhaps you should try (hot temperature) pickled beets with cloves at your meals too. I’m addicted to them this way and will eat a whole cereal bowl full at a sitting.
Good for you not pruning! I agree you will get more tomatoes! Always worked well for me, not pruning. I agree!
Did the pumpkins survive and grow a pumpkin?
Thank you for sharing your videos. I enjoy them so much, as does everyone. You’re a natural for sure. God Bless y’all’s homestead.
You must have one honkin' big refrigerator somewhere, given all of the things you put in it!
Your tomatoes look awesome and I never ate beets until I grew them for my Aunt and they were so pretty. Guess what? I ate them and they were sweet and delicious-lol- you never know until you try!
Best of luck on the pumpkins!
Hi! I wanted to give you another tip. You can chunk up your tomatoes and mix them with red Spanish onions and garlic. Pour oil over it and let marinate. Season with basil, salt, pepper, and you can also add grated cheese. Another great eat, is marinating your steak with soy sauce and oil, or vinegar and oil, or with brown mustard.
I read a Kansas pioneer memoir that recalled first coming to Kansas and just dropping watermelon seeds in little holes right on the untilled did and having the best watermelons they ever had! Try it!
You guys rock!!!!!!!
That looks like a ground animal nest
Why don't you put a marker on there wherever you put them
Cutting the suckers off my tomato plants is part of my morning ritual, cup of coffee, looking for suckers on the tomatoes, always heard that is what I am suppose to do,
however, I can never remember seeing my parents sucker the tomatoes in their garden,
On the other hand my tomatoes have been a failure the last two years,
Next year, mark where you planted your pumpkin seeds
