Thanks for posting this!!!!! The last time I saw this I was probably in the first grade in the 1970's. I am a grandma now.
I was in, Catholic, Grade-School, ln 2nd or 3rd-grade, When l first saw this film(Which was around 1973-1974). Do you see the flaw of this, False, Religious-System (Catholicism), Showing us kids, Back, ln the day, Paganistic-Films, Like this? If they were a Christian-Organization, They wouldn't have allowed a film, Like this, To be shown to kids. How do l know this? For the answer, Please, Also, Watch, On YouTube : Pagan lnvasion Vol 1 Halloween Trick or Treat.
I was born in '68 and don't remember this at all. It's very entertaining. Better than Escape to Witch Mountain.

IIRC, The plot from this short film of somebody being addicted to pancakes 🥞, would later be the inspiration for that episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch "Pancake Madness"!
I also was in elementary when they showed this film in school and did a book report on it, never forgot it! Very heart warming.
I remember watching this movie on an old projector in elementary school
This is the first thing that made me think drugs were probably pretty fun.
Was anybody else surprised by the Google results for "winter of the witch"?, how the pancakes were laced with LSD…ahh the good ol' days
I’m so glad I remembered this movie. It was definitely one of my favourites to watch in public school in the early 80’s
Thanks for posting this. I remember when I watched this in elementary school (I was born in 1970). Didn't know it was Burgess Meredith who narrated it. Takes me back to those simpler times.
Brilliant! I swear this is in my psyche from childhood. Subconsciously familiar!
Mickey and the old witch!?! HA!!! Burgess played a guy named Mickey….. makes you think as ancient aliens will say…” you have to wonder…. if this isn’t actually a true story about Burgess Meredith’s childhood!”. lol
I’m glad I watched this because I learned that blueberry pancakes really do make you happy! lol
A presentation of the CBS Children's Film Festival
Hash pancakes?!?! lol Vintage 70's here!
I got here by googling “magical pancakes” This has stuck with me since 2nd grade in 1979! It’s really a sweet little film.
I have been racking my brains trying to remember this movie, I saw it back in the 70’s every couple of years something would spark my memories about it, finally I did a random keyword search and voila I found it here. Brings back memories.
She put weed in her pancakes
I remember watching this when I was a kid
I haven’t thought about this movie in years…. then insomnia hit, and for some reason I thought about the creepy witch movie I was shown in kindergarten, and wondered why they showed it to us. Funny how so many who commented enjoyed this movie so much! I hated it! I had nightmares for years! 😩😜
Holy cow, I found it….Thank you! Finally get this out of my head.
2021 Rules forever
This is a staple of childhood movies.
Old Black Witch Childrens book by Wende and Harry Devlin inspired this!!!
Josh Tate July 11 grade Summer Street Apt I joshuatate716@gmail.com Joshua tree national guard to order me the movie and dinner Thursday night
Ok am I the only person who after seeing this in the early 80's later had it sneak from the unconcious to conscious mind. Only to have everyone else that was there deny it existed? Then you thought "why would they show me that as a child."? Then you blamed it for you being open to taking psychedelics? I mean the witch puts LSD in pancakes. We can all agree on that right?
This is great 🙂
WTF did they have us watching when we were little?
I've never heard of this short film/story before and you can tell it's from the 70's. I enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my ! These pancakes taste fabulous ! I seem to have lost all sense of time and space. I feel euphoric and I can hear all these colors making sounds.
Suddenly you are the prettiest witch I've ever seen. Are these my own hands? Why do they look like they are getting smaller and bigger at the same time? 🤓
CGI?
I remember this from elementary school we watched it on a projector.
for anyone wondering why it seems like every elementary school from the 70s onward had this movie i did some digging, i don't have it completely nailed down but it looks like the film was made or distributed by one the production company's acquire by Phoenix Learning Group which sells Educational films to schools, it look like this one was some sort of bulk deal maybe with the U.S Department of Education.
Reading the comments is just as fun as watching the movie again! I occasionally have thought of this trippy movie over the past 40 plus years and often have thought that I was imagining it. My sisters don't ever remember watching this movie and I think they thought I was kind of crazy when I described it to them.
