Wow is very similar to our Puerto Rican Egg nog which we call it Coquito meaning little Coconut with Rum. Same and similar process Coconut milk, Coconut cream, Condensed Milk, evaporated milk, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and we add Tea with it which you boil the Star Anise, Cinnamon sticks and Cloves and blend it all together with rum and thats it lol try it you will like it as well!😁👍 and i will definitely try Rum Popo for the first time this month i will be making it!
You can also use vanilla pudding instead of eggs, and leave out the nutmeg. You can substitute nutmeg with cinnamon, but I've heard others use cloves, and allspice . DO NOT SUBSTITUTE NUTMEG WITH MACE!!! THEY COME FROM THE SAME PLANT! Mace is actually the red wrapping around the mace!!! I also use the Malibu rum and fresh coconut milk it tastes so good!!!
Oh, by the way, the closest drink I found to Belizean lemonade is Pineapple Crush. Its as close as I've come to the lemonade. Its really delicious. As I am not a pop drinker, I usually only buy it for Thanksgiving & Christmas. My children usually drink it up like water b/c they know its a once in a while treat 😉
I will be making this for christmas. This is a recipe my mother did not have, although she does have some really old Belizean rum, like from 1976!! One thing I miss over here is real apples that smell like those in Belize. You knew Christmas was coming b/c the house would smell like delicious apples. I guess with all the un-natural chemicals they put in food, I cannot find an apple that smells like apples in US. I was talking to my mother about that & she agreed, the apples have no smell.
Lol maybe jada is the one thats different. She may well become your little alco haha joke! Oh I'm not much of a fan of nutmeg either, a little bit is ok, but I loooove cinnamon. I could have that on anything. How ride of joe to drink it all lol…shame on him 🙂
lol we get a lot of bloopers so we'll try to start doing that. I have to watch that girl, she may became a rum soak…My boys are 21 and 23 and both hates alcohol and cigarettes.
It tasted great..I only had a couple of sips of the little I set aside that didn't have the nutmeg. I could see that would sneak up on a person who doesn't drink because the alcohol was not too plentiful to match the whole batch so it didn't taste bitter. Joe drank the rest of my batch not knowing I set it aside for me, so now I can't have any at all because the rest has nutmeg.
