Eat the Colors of The Rainbow
Here is a short list of some of the foods and their nutrients in the various “color” categories, but there are definitely a lot more to choose from. Try to get as much of a variety of them, if possible, every day.
The Reds and their Nutrients:
Resveratrol – Red Grapes, Red Wine
Lycopene – Tomatoes, Watermelon, Pink Grapefruit, Bell Peppers
Capsaicin – Chili Peppers
The Oranges and their Nutrients:
Curcumin – Turmeric
Beta-Cryptoxanthin – Papaya, Tangerines
Alpha-Carotene – Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Winter Squash, Cantaloup
Hesperidin+Naringenin – Citrus
The Yellows and their Nutrients:
Lutein+Zeaxanthin – Corn, Leafy Greens
Bromelain – Pineapple
Limonoids – Citrus
The Greens and their Nutrients:
Chlorophyll – Watercress, Leeks, Arugula, Parsley
Apigenin+Luteolin – Celery, Parsley
Catechins – Green Tea
Isothiocyanates – Kale, Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli
