Chef AJ, I just found you this year and love your videos! You inspire me. I’m also a nutritarian lifestyle follower and have had similar success to you. The one thing I’m struggling with is navigating my social life and business travel. I’ve even considered purchasing a mini rice cooker for my carry on bag, and always scouting for grocery stores near my hotel. I really struggle with the business meals, as it’s tough to get a dish made to order with no salt, no oil. Sometimes I resort to a dry salad. Would love to hear what others in these situations do to stay on track. Thank you for your videos!
Very nicely explained. I personally gravitate between raw vegan fruitarian and whole foods plant-based. In other words sometimes I'm 100% raw and other times I eat potatoes! It's sort of a hybrid diet. All vegan for 38 years. It's very true some of the things you say. The starches really do come in handy. They are very satisfying. And I do think potatoes are really number one in terms of satiety. You made good comments about nuts and seeds as well. And everybody ought to understand the concept of calories and where they come from. I'm a big believer in Dr Doug Graham's 80/10/10 concept. This is a study in calories and macronutrients and it explains the importance of fresh fruit in the human diet. I do think a fruit-based diet is superior to the whole foods plant-based mostly cooked approach. But there's a lot more to health and longevity than just diet. And the satiety of the whole foods plant-based mostly cooked approach is superior. However I do think a hybrid diet between the two approaches is the wisest way to go.
Dear AJ … I’ve watched this over and over and over again and I know that it’s an older video but I love your realness and I understand your seemingly lack of patience at times on this post It’s because you’re just trying to get the message out to the people who really sincerely want ( and need) to be healthy and don’t know how and people keep putting obstacles up. I just want you to know I appreciate you your example and all the help that you’ve done. One of the key phrases I really love on this post is if you’re not hungry enough to eat vegetables then you’re really not hungry. Keep up your humor, style, and good works. ❤
18:56 She chastized us like she was our mother. But its definitely what we needed
I am not entirely convinced satiety is based solely on weight of food and stretching of the stomach because of the possibility of marijuana smokers who get "the munchies". There exists a culture of marijuana users and one of the side effects of the drug is increased appetite even if they were satiated before they took the drug. If the size of the stomach is the same before and after using the drug, then the stomach being the same size (not shrinking) should not affect appetite yet appetite increases. Why does this happen? I believe there is either a hormonal or neurotransmitter component to satiety (or both) either in addition to or instead of the stomach stretching idea. I would love to hear from endocrinologists, neurologists, and gastroenterologists about this.
Love your work chef AJ
Eat up Slim down
So Amazing. Thank you for sharing your story.
First time watching this episode. I appreciate the information you shared & happen to agree with everything you said. I’m living proof that losing slowly will help you maintain your weight loss.
This is such great news for me. I love veggies, but never thought I could eat unlimited amounts, and have starch too! I have a serious problem with portion control. Your system is awesome, NO MEASURING! I've always, always, hated that measuring and journaling stuff, ugh. And with your plan I can eat without counting and get really FULL. I'm taking small steps, because I'm also a sugar addict.
I just have one question, I work out and weight train. I have been told after a weight training session, one is supposed to eat protein to feed the muscle. What can I eat after a workout? Thank you!!
Thank you for your inspiration. As a T2 diabetic, I'm confused about frequency of eating. The trend seems to be fasting to improve your insulin sensitivity and to reduce the frequentt insulin peaks with all the negative outcomes associated with it. Here you are eating vast amounts of food and eating frequently. I understand the types of food you are eating help minimise peaks but they will occur along with the frequent production of insulin. Thank you.
Thank you-for not sugar coating it!
And thank you for the potatoes. My favorite food ever, and i, personally low salads ANF steamed veggies. It'd just that they keep on introducing new diets. I will try yours (comfortably), and I I lose the weight slowly, then fine. I will be satisfied doing it.
Thank you so much. I know that you were tired o talking about what you eat in a day (even in 2017) but this video was the one that clarified things for me. So, thank you so much. I have had some of the problems that you have had, and am just a tad overweight, but have to put the brakes on now. Got any suggestions for getting off the diet sodas? I love them, and I know they're horrible. Gonna try the vinegar for that, and will try to find a doc, but that will be difficult. My primary care guy isn't very good at the dumb stuff.
Anyway, thanks so much!
Wow. I am loving it. It’s more like me
Really fun talk, very informative, loved it, love you💟💟💟
Okay, this is the first time I have heard a full talk from Chef AJ and I love it. Very inspiring, and I love the no nonsense approach to questions. In work, in life, in health; the plan works when you work the plan. The message I got, don't screw with what works; and don't say it doesn't work when you haven't really done it. I'm new to this; but I am onboard. I have been on-again, off-again WFPB for 2 years with little weight loss. I now understand what Dr. Gregor said about food density. I am committing to start each day with vegetables; and eating all kinds of scrumptious veggies with each meal. I am dropping my beloved nuts, avocado, and glass of wine with dinner. Something new, I will only eat when I am hungry. Only a few days in; but happily in compliance; no cravings and no obsessing. I know I'm not a success story, but loving how I feel and loving the food. Thank you Chef AJ. Don't give up on us, we need you!
You looked nice in the video. I was hoping your diet ideas could help, but no
Hello Chef AJ. I have watched many of your videos. I have learned so much from your talks.
Saying John Mackey is an ethical vegan is like saying Guisslaine Maxwell is an advocate for young girls. He's a humane washer and made a fortune off of exploiting animals. Love the tips though. Nothing more satisfying than a big salad 🙂
I love the WLW. Sorry to hear Chef AJ lament on how painful WLW are for her. This feature is one of the cornerstones of her brand and it is definitely not lost on me but it sounds like it is a challenge for her at least during this airing.
Wow! I just came across your program and was kinda stunned by your upset over people asking about what you eat. I guess you are assuming that it’s the same people asking? I think you need to remember it is those people who are benefiting you financially. I really enjoy High Carb Hannah and Plantiful Kiki. They love sharing what the eat and have a gentle, joyous way of teaching.
You look amazing AJ!
💜 your passion, and to see you get a little t’d off at the “haters”!! Thank you for pointing out to stop worrying about the small stuff!
So beautiful! Thank your for being an inspiration!
I love how Chef AJ is simultaneously salt-free and salty AF
With my gastroparesis I CANT eat much food. I graze for Brekky on wfpb vegan no sugar oil and low salt diet and low fodmaps (when needed). My dinner serve is 1-2 cups and even purée when in flare. Crohn’s in remission.
Just saying with some medical conditions it is possible to not be able to eat much food serving. Bmi is 21 and still in remission from
Crohn’s. Have 7 gi illnesses and do best I can with what I’ve got. Cycling also helps. I find listening to my body is the best n eat when hungry or graze very lightly.
My late mum was an expert in heathy nutrition – she was an eat to live gal before Joel Fuhrman was born – my afternoon snack after grade school was carrots and apple = she had a very hard life including surviving pneumonia as a child before anti-biotics – she made 92.5,
100 percent do not trust research unless you read it yourself. Love it stop majoring in minor things
Chef AJ is hilarious in this video! OMG she cracks me up! Love it!
Love you lectures. Especially #CarbTheFuckUpPeople! I need a tshirt!! You’re the BEST! And I like to hear what you eat in a day or week. But not all the time. I can YouTube it when I want a fresher upper.
Chef looks great.
❤️🌷👍🏼👍🏼
I had never heard of you before today, my sister just sent me this wednesday video.
Does this work for diabetics?
Wow I started wfpb June last year I started at 220 I am 174 and haven’t lost anymore in two months. I start my day with oatmeal and fruit then veggies and potatoes and salad for lunch and dinner. After watching this I know now to keep dropping the lbs I have to cut out the oatmeal. It worked for the first six months now I need to change. Thank you so much AJ . Im 62 years young and most of my adult life have been over 200 lbs. even at the weight I’m at now I feel so much more healthy. I only wish I found out all this at a younger age but that wasn’t the case and here I am now a part of a new tribe. Thank you for all the helpful info on this video.
Thank you and please understand that by talking about what you eat, you inspire and motivate others. Please don't get tired talking about it. ❤️
I guess I'm the only one but I feel like I'm being scolded. I came across this and watched since I've been trying to do WFPB while struggling with the symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis and desperate for info on how to do this when most veggies I try to consume just make me worse. I don't lose weight since I eat so many carbs and low fiber foods and feeling so discouraged. I get that it must be tiring if people are asking you all the time what your secret of success is…. but honestly I feel like this was an episode you didn't want to do and people like me are just a pain in the butt. Be well.
Measuring and weighing also doesn’t make sense as when God made man, He did not put him here (in a GARDEN of life!)with measuring cups and rules as to how much is proper for living. It was like: here you go! Eat when hungry! Be fruitful and multiply.
So weighing and measuring seems against the original blueprint.
That is my issue than . Nuts
What about diabetes
I really appreciate Chef AJ. She has helped me lose weight by focusing on eating healthy meals consistently. I love baked sweet potatoes. I enjoy eating grilled peppers and grilled halved Roma tomatoes. I like eating 15 varieties of mixed beans. I like baked asparagus and Brussels sprouts (sprinkled with salt and pepper, and I use a little olive oil and dark brown sugar). I got a 1,000 watt Nutri-Ninja, which makes it easy to drink vegetables and I still get all the fiber. I eat them too, but drinking them encourages me to consume them more. I like what AJ says: "If it's in your house it's in your mouth!"
What is the best size air fryer for 2 people
28:44 that's closer to 600 calories.
large russet potato = 300 cals
100g of corn = 86 cals
cup of cooked black beans = 230 cals
Breathing is important to me, too, AJ! 😂Thanks for your honesty and example . 👍🏻😃🌻
Do you work out?
Eat up slim down, for sure !
I have been watching you for a while, but I haven't commented before. LOVE THIS EPISODE. There may be people who are offended by your direct speech, buy I find it refreshing! I'm sorry you are frustrated by the "what does AJ eat" questions, but the visual today really helped me see the volume of food that can/should be consumed, and I have a much clearer understanding. So thank you for working past your irritation and putting this up!
Have a wonderful day, and I look forward to future videos!!
