The House Salad…it's the same, but different, every time.
Salad can be more than Iceberg Lettuce, Romaine, Spinach, or other leafy greens. This salad is built on vegetables, which makes this more nutrient dense and more flavorful. This is a base to build on, and really just a means of getting more raw veggies into your body. But, this doesn’t have to be a stand alone “salad”, it is an easy option to pair with a grilled ribeye, or crispy chicken thighs, or even some smoked ribs. We don’t have a carbohydrate/starch with every meal. Sometimes meat and raw veggies is enough, especially in the summer. You could add some fresh baked sourdough bread, biscuits, steamed Jasmine rice, roasted potatoes, or some other carbohydrate/starch to make this a bigger meal.
There are lots of ways to build on this basic mix of raw veggies. Use your creativity and the flavors that you know. However, here are 5 options of additional ingredients to add at the last minute to take these veggies to the next level. Cut each of the below into a similar size as your House Salad Mix.
1. Apples, Ginger, Cilantro, sesame oil, and Lime Juice.
2. Cherry Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives, Basil, and Feta Cheese.
3. Cherry Tomatoes, Pickled Jalapeños, Cilantro, Lime Juice, and Ground Cumin and Coriander.
4. Crispy Bacon, Goat Cheese, Bing Cherries, Black Truffle Oil, and Aged Balsamic
5. Mango, Avocado, Cilantro, Basil, Meyer Lemon Juice, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
