Cooking Class with Chef Dulce for a Healthy Pregnancy – February 2023
In this class you will learn to make vegan recipes, that will resemble some of our favorite fish recipes. During pregnancy the consumption of fish and seafood should be limited but there is no need to deprive yourself.
You can enjoy similar recipes made in a way that will surprise and delight you by using similar textures and flavors! Like this Chickpeas “Tuna” Salad, and pan Fried Hearts of Palm Calamari made in this class.
Although none of these recipes contain seafood, I would like to remind you why is so important to eat less seafood and fish while pregnant.
I have created the acronym L.E.A.R.N. which will help you remember a few rules to safely consume fish and seafood safely while pregnant:
RULES (L.E.A.R.N)
TO CONSUME FISH & SEAFOOD SAFELY WHILE PREGNANT
• Limit the consumption to 8 oz and up to 12 oz per week
• Eat fish & seafood with the highest content of nutrients, specially Omega-3 fatty acid
• Avoid large, old, predatory fish
1. Roast, bake, pan-sear, or fry; but never eat raw or undercooked fish or seafood. To avoid harmful bacteria or viruses, do not eat seafood or fish including oysters, sushi, sashimi and refrigerated uncooked seafood labeled nova style, lox, kippered, smoked or jerky
• Not wild, do not purchase

Why I love sharing this information with you? When I was pregnant, I got pretty sick, vomiting and I was not eating well during the entire pregnancy. I lost weight instead of gaining and my baby was born with a few congenital health conditions. If I knew then what I know now, I could have done something different.
