I always pressure cook my seared beef and onions for 25 to 30 minutes, and then add my veggies to cook an additional 5 minutes under high pressure again. That way the meat is tenderized and the veggies aren't over cooked.
This pot is great! It saves so much time and effort. Try spaghetti and meatballs, you’ll be amazed. I have trouble lifting heavy things so this is a back saver.
Turn back on the "saute" setting and thicken with corn starch or flour/water as you would doing stew on the stove. Works great.
1/4 to 1/2 cup of barley would have made it spot on with the juice Mrs V. I think you will appreciate this contraption more in the summer when you can do a roast without having to turn the oven on.
Yes! Looks great! I too end up with more soup than stew because it needs all that liquid to cook and not get that dreaded "Burn Notice" if it runs out of liquid. But even when we cook veggies I use broth instead of just water and well if it tastes good then its a win. Soupy or not. lol
If you add tomato products I discovered put on to of everything or it we’ll show burnt. That’s happened to me a couple of times. Stew looks delicious.
I would take some instant potatoes to help thicken it up.
I just wanna say how much youve impacted mine and my mothers life and thank you. When i was really little we would watch you daily, even every night before bed. My moms been watching you since you started your channel and always thought of you as a mother figure. She always puts on your videos when shes either cooking, sewing, organizing, or just in her free time. Thank you for being apart of our life miss i really appreciate how much youve impacted our life 🙂
Nice video!! Very engaging from beginning to end. Nevertheless, businesses and investment are the easiest way to make money irrespective of which party makes it to the oval office.
If you get a binder clip you can clip the inner pot to the pot body and you can work without the inner pot moving. Just have to remove it before you put on the lid on to start cooking.
The more you use it the better you'll get at understanding the Instapot.
I cook my eggs and potatoes on high pressure 6 to 7 minutes releasing pressure all at once for potatoes salad.
35 is too much
Looked fanfreakingtastic Bev. So did you find it easier than a crockpot stew? Thanks for sharing much love from Thunder Bay Ontario
You are becoming a pro with that Instant pot Bev!
The IP is also excellent for decarbing cannabis!
I keep roux balls in my fridge to use when something needs more thickening, Basically its equal portions flour and butter, mix it together and it makes a paste. Roll into a log in cling wrap and refrig.(like you do cookie dough). When it gets hard cut into chunks and keep refrigerated. Plop one or two into whatever needs thickening. I've also saute'd it in a pan and added milk etc to make a bechamel. Handy to have on hand.
You could have put it back on sauté after it was done cooking and add more flour to thicken it to your liking. I don’t know what I did before getting my instant pot. I even got rid of my crockpot. I love it!!
You can also cook separate items all at once in oven proof dishes, by fitting them in and using racks. Steamed desserts, cakes and bread too. Some people are really clever with their methods.
what about boiling/simmering ground beef before pressure canning it up? anyone try this before? your thoughts please. diner hot dog ground beef chili is boiled not fried, ground beef stays tender, tates delicious.
“You do you boo!” I’m totally stealing that 💖🧚🏼♀️
You could add a packet of gravy mix in to thicken it, that’s what I do sometimes.
I leave it on keep warm, take some broth and cool it down with a couple of ice cubes, mix in some flour, shake it up, and pour it in and then turn it on saute until it thickens up and the flour taste is gone.
It's nice to see you getting the hang of it.
Instapot corned beef is amazing, cover it with water go for 60min then open it take out enough of the flavorful water to steam whatever vegetables you like. Turn the corned beef on for another 30 minutes while the vegetables steam in the aromatic water. You won't regret it!
The instant pot only needs 1 cup of liquid to come to pressure. Try 1/2 the amt of stock next time.
🤗PERFECTO!!!👌 Perfect consistency for your liquid, perfect for your time, perfect level contents…thicken that sauce with flour/water and set to saute high and bring it to boil until thickened like you would on the stove or crock pot😁👍🏻☝️IMPORTANT THING…WAS IT TENDER?? 🤔Reheat leftovers and turn it into a soup by adding your dried/canned veggies of celery, green beans, peas, corn, tomatoes, barley, and 1 bay leaf, and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning ALL in your IP (I think you have now graduated into calling it an IP😉)…let us know what Pappa thinks of this makeover meal😊🤩Added benefit…it was better on your electricity by doing everything in the small appliance quickly than the major one of the stovetop AND THAT'S GOOD HOME ECONOMICS❣
You're doing great! 🙂
Great job Bev!!! That beef stew looks absolutely delicious!!! God bless!!!
I'm always curious as to people's fear of MSG, lol. Billions of Asians who are healthier and live longer and better lives are curious, too.
You can turn it back on saute & let it boil to thicken up!
Do you love it yet? Never use the pot on stove top,
HiLooking delicious my favorite great job❤🙏👏👏👏👏
I have an Instant pot, Different then yours but and I love it …best to thicken things after it's done, then just leave it on keeping warm until it's ok.
That's right, if it's a little saucier than you'd like, call it a hearty soup. Worked for Campbell's. And it's the flavour that counts in the end.
Looked very good!!😊
